Configure network kali linux virtualbox3/17/2024 In the network settings in VirtualBox, the adapter type is "Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82450EM)", not sure if that's right it was just the default value. When I run ipconfig in the host OS (windows), the Ehternet adapter for the VirtualBox Host-Only Network is 192.168.56.1 (preferred), and DHCP is disabled. When I run "ip addr show" on the guest OS in VirtualBox, the ethernet connection has an ip address of 192.168.1.209. Here's more info on the network config: the host machine is connected to a LAN via an ethernet cable, with DCHP enabled. Thanks for the quick replies bill and socratis. KaliLinux-21-38-34.zip VBox.log and VBoxHardening.log (38.32 KiB) Downloaded 12 times Please let me know if I can provide further info, and thank you for any help you're able to provide! I've attached the VirtualBox log and VboxHardening log in a zipped file. This one's driving me nuts, I'm just learning VirtualBox but I can't figure this thing out. If I switch the network type to NAT, it works just fine and I have internet access. I restarted the network manager (service network-manager restart), the connection restarts and reconnects just fine (NetworkManager indicates the Wired Connection is just fine).Īfter that, I try pinging yahoo and it doesn't work (no internet access, confirmed in Firefox).I set managed=true in nf under /etc/NetworkManager.I started up Kali Linux (I tried starting it up before and after the previous steps, didn't seem to make a difference).I made sure "Cable Connected" was checked. For promiscuous mode I chose "Allow VMs".for the "Name" I select the Killer e2200 ethernet controller (details above).I set up an Adapter attached to "Bridged Adapter".In VirtualBox, I go to Devices -> Network -> Network Settings.I made sure my host computer was plugged into the ethernet connection (I hear wireless and bridged networks don't always play nice) and had internet access on the host OS through the ethernet connection.I am trying to access the internet through a Bridged Connection. My ethernet is a Killer e220 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (DNIS 6.30), and my wireless is a Killer Wireless-N 1202 Network Adapter. I'm running Kali Linux version 2018.2 64-bit as the guest OS, as root, with 4GB RAM and 50GB storage. I have not installed the Guest Additions. I'm running VirtualBox version 5.2.18 r124319 (Qt5.6.2), though I have also tried 5.1.28 and 5.1.28 because other forum posts suggested those might work. I'm running Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit as the host OS, with a 500GB SSD hard drive. I've spent several hours searching the forum and other online resources, but to no avail.
